Organization of sports activities on campus

Each student at the University of Lomé has the opportunity to join sports teams to participate in inter-facs, inter-promotions and university championships. These initiatives aim to detect sporting talents to be integrated into national teams or supported for international competitions. Key sporting activities in which the various UL teams participate include:

  • The university championships in March-April, bringing together teams from public and private higher education establishments in southern Togo;
  • School and university championships organized during the holidays by the Ministry of Sports;
  • The Friendship Tournament in November-December between the national gendarmerie, the military team and the two public universities of Togo;
  • The Big 8 in December, bringing together the 8 best football teams from UL.

At the same time, faculties, associations and women practice various sports disciplines to promote the physical and mental well-being of students.

The COUL offers lessons two to three times a week in various physical and sporting activities throughout the year on the university’s sports facilities. It provides training aimed at introducing and improving different sporting activities. These courses can be chosen as Free Teaching Units, offering the possibility of obtaining credits.
