At its creation, it had five (05) schools, namely, the School of Letters (EDL), the Higher School of Administration and Legal Careers (ESACJ), the Higher School of Economic Techniques and Management ( ESTEG), the School of Sciences (EDS) and the School of Medicine (EDM).
In 2001, the name “University of Benin” was modified by decree No. 2001-024/PR of March 9, 2001. The University of Benin then became the University of Lomé (UL).
From 2005, following the birth of the Network for Excellence in Higher Education in West Africa (REESAO), the University of Lomé resolutely engaged in a process of global reform of its education system. training.
